We are appointment-only. An application needs to be approved prior to setting up a meeting. If you want to meet a dog or cat, please fill out an adoption application, and we'd be happy to schedule a meeting if it's a good match! We have adoption coordinators who review applications daily and are in contact with multiple families for one animal at a time to find the best match.

directions:

When you arrive, park in the PCI Business parking lot and walk through the big gate (pictured below) and up to our office - you'll see our VIDA Rescue signs! The gate needs to be manually pulled open (if not open already) and closed behind you; it is never locked. Walk straight, and you will reach our building. Take a look on the right to see exactly which building we are!

LIVE FAR?

Don’t fret! Still apply - we can potentially arrange for transporters if you live far from our shelter. We work hard to find perfect homes for our animals, regardless of where their families might be. However, we rarely adopt out of state.

FAQ’s

We are a SoCal based rescue that saves dogs and cats from high-kill animal control centers, other rescues, Mexico, and from the streets. Our rescue was started up in 2015 and we've been increasing the scope of our rescue more and more. Our shelter location opened in April 2017, and we're continually finding ways to improve our shelter and the animals we care for! We are not government funded, so your help is especially important.

If you cannot find the answer to your question, click here to contact us.

1.) How many animals do you have at the shelter?

We're almost always at full capacity and will keep animals until they find a forever home. We have ~100 animals in our care (in-house and foster care) at a time consistently and adopt out anywhere from 30-70 animals monthly depending on the month. If you'd like to foster, we'll be able to rescue even more.

2.) Where do the animals come from?

Our network partners, animal control contractors (Rosemead, La Puente), streets of Mexico via sister rescues, hoarding situations, high-kill shelters, other local rescues, and some owner surrenders.

3.) What happens to animals when they're taken in at the shelter?

We provide love and care for our animals until they can find their forever homes. We have a large team of volunteers that take dogs out on walks, day trips, feed them, bathe them, brush them, keep their areas clean, and are given lots of love. The cats stay in the Cattery, full of cat trees and set up like a home environment, and they get lots of love, toys, and attention from our volunteers. We're also lucky to be able to feed our dogs and cats high quality dog foods thanks to our donors.

4.) What can I do to help?

There are many ways to help! Even something as simple as coming in for a day to walk a dog or posting something on social media could attract more potential and adopters to our rescue. We also have many volunteer opportunities and ways to give, which can be found in the other tabs at the top of the page. Supply donations are also always welcome - we take open and brand new supplies.

5.) What if I have a pet or have found an animal that needs a home?

Please visit our pages on surrendering a pet. If you have just found a stray, please reach out to your local city’s Animal Control to see what your options are, since we cannot intake found strays due to county regulations.
