writing successful pet bios

One of the most important things for adoption interest and success is writing successful pet bios! A bio should include basic information but also information that will draw adopters in and intrigue them with the special animal you’re writing about!

Download this PDF below and share it with your volunteers and posters. We recommend using both Petfinder and Adoptapet to post animals for the best success!

taking successful pet photos

Photos are just as important, if not more important, than pet bios! Photos are responsible for making the best possible first impression onto adopters. A high-quality photo will always stand objectively better than a blurry one!

Download this file below to share with your fosters and rescuers to help take the best photos for dogs and cats. Photos are especially important for dogs and cats who are more difficult to adopt out (certain breeds, seniors, or animals with medical conditions).

find volunteers for specialized tasks

Volunteers are integral to a rescue’s success. Many specialized tasks can be remote, which means you have a large pool of people to advertise to! We highly recommend using Volunteermatch to find volunteers - it’s a widely-used platform for organizations to post volunteer opportunities!

These are ideas for volunteers to find:

  • professional pet photographers

  • web-developers (try using easy-to-use platforms like Squarespace! that’s what we use)

  • social media managers (2 for each platform)

  • dog walkers (if you have a shelter with dogs on-site)

We will be updating this page with more! This is a new page and project of ours. Help us share it!
